Lambert Bicycle Models |
All models featured the same frame mounted with the same components. The more expensive the model, the better the wheels, the saddle, and the “paint.” The Lambert frame was constructed of 1027 alloy steel tubing. As most of the components were made by Lambert, the majority of them carried the Lambert name or a simple “L”. This was true of the Viscount for a while as well. The handlebars had a
gold sleeve
in the center with a space for the owner’s name . The seat tube had a
gold decal
detailing the specifications of the steel tubing. The Lambert name was found on the
brakes,
the
crankset,
the
shifters
(twice),
and even the seat post and
handlebar binder
bolts. (See this
1972 ad
for a complete list of specs).
The original components were almost all manufactured in-house or commissioned specifically for Lambert (very expensive).
Super Sports (1972-) This standard Lambert model featured Lambert’s signature seamless* tubing. Suggested retail: $124.98.
Grand Prix (1973) “This model is equipped with Lambert Aerospace Ultralite components including sealed bearing hubs, sealed bearing bottom bracket, needle bearing pedals, cotterless 15 speed alloy crank assembly, Lamber 1027 alloy steel tubing to aircraft specifications, 27 x 1 ¼ tube type tires, Alpine derailleur and weighs approximately 22 ¾ pounds. Suggested Retail-$129.98.” (see 1973 ad**).
Professional Grand Prix (1972-1973) "This model is the same as the Grand Prix but with sew up tires and alloy sprint rims, and weighs approximately 20 pounds. Suggested retail-$139.98." (see 1973 ad**).
Professional Grand Prix Deluxe (1972-1973) "This model is equipped the same as the Professional Grand Prix but includes chrome rear stays, suede covered saddle, water bottle and weighs approximately 20 pounds. Suggested retail-$149.98." (see 1973 ad**)
Professional Grand Prix 24 ct GOLD PLATED (1972-1973) Perhaps as few as 100 of these bikes were ever made. “This model is equipped the same as the Professional Grand Prix but has a 24 ct. gold frame and weighs approximately 20 pounds. Suggested retail: $259.95.” (see 1973 ad**)

*Lambert’s seamless tubing design was filet brazed (no lugs) and presented very clean welds.
